Syracuse is a city located in Otoe County, Nebraska. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 1.942. It is a second class city incorporated in 1871. The current mill levy is .43391. It is governed by a mayor and council.

Geography
Syracuse is located at 40°39’31” North, 96°11’00” West (40.658626, -96.183207).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.29 km² (1.27 mi²). 3.29 km² (1.27 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,942 people, 845 households, and 515 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,529.1 inhabitants per square mile (590.4/km2). There were 903 housing units at an average density of 711.0 per square mile (274.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.2% White, 0.5% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 0.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.

The median age in the city was 45.5 years. 22.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 21.1% were from 25 to 44; 21.5% were from 45 to 64; and 29.1% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 45.9% male and 54.1% female.

The average median income as of 2013 was $42,309.
